Quinton & Petix is a
unique two-attorney
law firm, combining a depth and breadth of experience in Federal civil

tort liability. The partners, Michael Quinton and Stephen Petix,
are both former Assistant United States Attorneys, each with over 20
years'
experience as Government lawyers. For most of their careers with
the Government, Mr. Quinton and Mr. Petix exclusively handled civil
cases
on behalf of several different Federal agencies, including the United
States
Border Patrol, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the U.S.
Navy,
the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the U.S. Marine Corps, the Fish and
Wildlife Service, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Bureau of
Land Manage- ment, the Comptroller of the Currency, the U. S.
Postal Service, the U.S. Customs Service and the Federal Aviation
Administration.
Mr. Quinton, in particular,
because of
his extensive experience as an Air Force pilot , was the primary
Assistant
U. S. Attorney in San Diego assigned the defense of air crash
cases
brought against either the Navy, the Army or the Federal Aviation
Administration
(FAA). He successfully defended a good percentage of those cases
at trial, bringing to bear his own in-depth knowledge of aviation and
the
skills needed to pilot aircraft safely, as well as those needed to
provide
appropriate air traffic control information. Mr. Quinton combined
his aviation background with sound lawyering skills to save the U. S.
taxpayers
millions of dollars.
Mr. Petix's professional
experience complements
that of Mr. Quinton, since he also has in-depth experience in Federal
civil
litigation as an Assistant U.S. Attorney, handling the defense of many
personal injury cases
under the Federal Tort Claims Act, including two aviation accident
cases, as well as civil rights claims, employment discrimination claims
and various other legal challenges
to
Federal programs and practices. Mr. Petix also pursued civil
enforcement actions for violations of the Clean Water Act, arising from
the destruction of protected wetlands and endangered species.

competence and experience in Federal civil matters, especially those
involving
aviation mishaps and most other kinds of claims involving the Federal

Since their entry into private practice in 1994, the principals of the
