Michael E. Quinton
MICHAEL E. QUINTON, Esq., is a highly experienced litigation attorney who is dedicated to protecting and preserving your rights and interests.  Mr. Quinton has a depth of understanding of the legal system gained from his 30 plus years of experience in dealing with it.

Mr. Quinton has handled all phases of litigation, from filing through appeal, in a very wide variety of civil litigation matters.  He has tried approximately fifty cases to juries and an equal number to the court.  He has also handled the appeal of approximately sixty cases to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.  He has tried civil cases involving  aircraft accidents, medical malpractice, fires, land condemnation, business litigation and a wide variety of personal injury matters.

Mr. Quinton is a nationally-recognized expert in aviation law and has taught courses for other aviation lawyers and aircraft accident investigators.  These courses include: a presentation to the Organization of Flying Adjusters on National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) Reports and Their Use by Adjusters; a presentation to the Air Law Symposium of the Southern Methodist University School of Law on the Status of Pending Air Carrier Litigation; and a presentation to the Aviation Sections of the Orange County and the San Diego County Bar Associations on the Federal Tort Claims Act.

Mr. Quinton is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, of Air Force pilot training, of advanced  flying training in the C-130 and C-141 aircraft and of the Air Force course in Aircraft Mishap (Accident) Investigation.  He has the depth of understanding of aircraft engineering and aviation-related issues that can only come from having studied aircraft engineering and having been a military-trained professional pilot for over 20 years.

Mr. Quinton received his law degree from the University of Denver College of Law in 1970.  Following graduation from law school, Mr. Quinton worked in the City Attorney's Office in Lakewood, Colorado for one year and then worked in the United States Attorney's Office in San Diego (Southern District of California), for 23 years.  Although he handled a very wide variety of types of cases while in the United States Attorney's Office, he specialized in aviation litigation and land condemnation (eminent domain) matters.  He has been in private practice in San Diego, CA, since 1994.

Stephen V. Petix

STEPHEN V. PETIX, Esq. is committed to providing you honest, competent, and experienced advice about your legal rights, and effective, loyal representation in court.  He will fight vigorously for your rights before a court or a jury, but will not hesitate to advise you of alternatives to litigation, if that is truly in your best interest.

He has been a lawyer for more than 33 years.  Part of that time was spent as a Navy JAG lawyer, handling courts-martial and legal assistance; part of that time was spent as a law clerk to a Federal judge; and a large part of that time (more than 20 years) was spent as an Assistant U. S. Attorney, first prosecuting federal crimes, and (from 1978 to 1994) representing the United States of America and individual Federal agencies and officers, in all varieties of civil litigation involving the U.S. Government.   In recognition of his demonstrated legal knowledge and litigation skills, he was appointed Assistant Chief of the Civil Division of the U. S. Attorney's Office in May of 1983.  A more detailed professional biography for Mr. Petix can be found in the 2001 edition of the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory for California (Vol. 3).

Since entering private practice in 1994, Mr. Petix has represented individuals and businesses (and a local municipality), in both Federal and State civil litigation matters, with competence, diligence and an outstanding record of client satisfaction.   (References available on request.)  Because of his extensive Federal background and experience, the majority of referrals he has received from other lawyers have dealt with Federal litigation matters. But his practice has expanded to include a number of State court matters as well.

He has also contributed to the continuing education of his fellow lawyers, by providing seminar instruction in areas of his special knowledge: (1) Federal civil procedure and (2) Personal injury and property damage claims against the United States Government.

Mr. Petix's practice areas include:

• Personal Injury
• Governmental Liability (Federal Tort Claims Act)
• Products Liability
• Environmental Law (National Environmental Policy Act, Clean Water Act)
• Commercial Litigation
• Real Property Disputes
